This time last year, I made my first ever new years resolution; I said that I was going to publish a book. And while I am not there yet, I am so excited about my progress that it is hard to feel like I have failed.
If I hadn’t made that commitment, I would not have got as far as I have. Since January I have, finished a book – 90k of words, found an editor, and gone through 2 rounds of editing, hacking, chopping, rewriting. In between edits, I have written the second book – another 90k, and began drafting the third.
I have spent hours reading, blogs, books, articles of every kind about writing.
I have started a blog, opened a twitter account, facebook pages, and various other social media accounts, where I share, and learn from others doing the same thing.
In short I made more progress towards my dream last year than any other year of my life – and I did this because I made a commitment to myself and because I wrote that promise down.
So whatever it is you want to be or achieve or do, stop waiting for it to happen, make your own commitment, and write it down. Don’t short change yourself, don’t give yourself an easy target, make it hard and make it worth the effort. If you aim high and fail, then you will still have achieved a lot.
If we want to make our dreams a reality, we have to take a risk. We have to risk being a fool or a failure, and recognise that by doing so, we ultimately become neither.
A blog that took my breath away to the depth of magnificence… belonged to Gee itself. Yeah, every day`s damn new to everyone. Equal time, every days/nights/moments, same sun, same moon, same sky even the ocean`s too same … then what makes the world.. especially people so different? It`s ‘success’ that`s not achieved so easily. You must speak through your actions and always get listened by others through the pleasure of heart. What an inspirational post i`ve read throughout the day! Glad to read something new in a new aspect from someone as beautiful as the flesh of angelic heart. Keep writing!

Congratulations on all of your achievements. I can feel your excitement, energy, and conviction to continue in this post. Much of the effort that goes into writing is just putting your nose to the grindstone and making it happen. It sounds like you have done that and much more. It also sounds like 2015 will be the year in which your publishing dreams come true.
Cheering you on toward that goal and achievement!

I congratulate you on an impressive and positive blog. WELL DONE YOU! Be proud of what you have achieved in twelve months because you are now past the point of no return and I know you will continue to write. Many people ‘give up’ when the going gets tough but you have stuck to your goals. Believe me there is nothing better than seeing your literary efforts in print. I look forward to reading your first novel.

Congratulations, Georgina. Editing and then revising stages are my favorite parts of the writing process. It seems to fall into place. There is nothing more beautiful than refining language.

Wonderful to see a fellow chronic pain sufferer with an investment in writing. I also agree that having goals and making conscious efforts to pursue them is the only way to make real progress. This year I am launching a new blog and am going to try to edit the first draft of my manuscript in addition to doing more freelancing work. Ambitious to be sure, but even slow progress is progress and without lofty goals where would we be?
Keep up the great work. 🙂
