I liked #10: creating characters and places out of thin air, but complete inability to talk coherently about them.

Fantastic. Live all the me vs brain dialogue. I have a lot of that.
Me: Let’s do some writing
Brain: Ok, WordPress here we come…
Me: No! Proper writing.
Brain: Twitter?
Me: No!
Brain: Cake?
Me: Mmm…

I’ve written characters who are smarter than I am. It’s a weird feeling.
One time I was writing a scene where my detective character was talking with a friend, and the friend asked if the detective was sleeping with her assistant (her “Watson”).
The detective said no, that it would have been a bad idea for them to sleep together. Her reasons were were the ones which had always made sense to me, but the friend (smarter than me, obviously) immediately pointed out that the reasons actually made no sense.
While I was still trying to absorb this, the detective went off and seduced her assistant, and now they’re married and they have a kid.
